Noninvasive 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring: current status.

چکیده
Noninvasive intermittent blood pressure monitoring was first developed 30 years ago.' It is now evolving from its former role as a somewhat esoteric research tool to becoming a clinically useful procedure for the evaluation ofhypertensive patients. In this review we outline its historical development, compare noninvasive 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring with the other available methods of blood pressure assessment, and evaluate the current roles for the technique in the diagnosis and management of hypertension.

The effects of circadian blood pressure (BP) changes on the echocardiographic parameters of left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy were investigated in 235 consecutive subjects (137 unselected untreated patients with essential hypertension and 98 healthy normotensive subjects) who underwent 24-hour noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and crosssectional and M-mode echocardiography...
متن کاملMonitoring 24-hour blood pressure in a drug trial. Evaluation of a noninvasive device.
To test the usefulness of noninvasive ambulatory 24-hour blood pressure recording, the Del Mar Avionics system was used in a double-blind clinical trial in which 31 hypertensive patients were randomly allocated to receive placebo or pafenolol (25 mg or 50 mg), a novel, long-acting, highly selective beta-blocker, once daily. The results of 24-hour blood pressure and heart rate recording after 4 ...

We tested Portapres, an innovative portable, battery-operated device for the continuous, noninvasive, 24-hour ambulatory measurement of blood pressure in the finger. Portapres is based on Finapres, a stationary device for the measurement of finger arterial pressure. Systems were added to record signals on tape, to alternate measurements between fingers automatically each 30 minutes, and to corr...

The purpose of the present study was to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and parameters derived from 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring including mean 24-hour daytime and nighttime systolic and diastolic blood pressures, 24-hour daytime and nighttime pulse pressure, mean 24-hour daytime and nighttime heart rate, dipping and nondipping status. 3216 outpatient su...
متن کاملImpact of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring on Reclassification of Hypertension Prevalence and Control in Older People in Spain.
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) accurately classifies blood pressure (BP) status but its impact on the prevalence and control of hypertension is little known. The authors conducted a cross-sectional study in 2012 among 1047 individuals 60 years and older from the follow-up of a population cohort in Spain. Three casual BP measurements and 24-hour ABPM were performed under standardize...
